About the Event
2022 ASREAP Conference: Deep Listening in Relationship. Deep Listening to Country. Deep Listening to Wisdom.
Context:
“Approaching, speaking, listening, looking at, coming to know and understand one another, and to find common ground... All these things are summed up in the one word “dialogue”. If we want to encounter and help one another, we have to dialogue. Unlike disagreement and conflict, persistent and courageous dialogue does not make headlines, but quietly helps the world to live much better than we imagine.”
Pope Francis #198 Fratelli Tutti 2020
Australia is on a journey. One where we are called to: honour our past; acknowledge those who came before us; and dream of a future which is founded on truth-telling, healing and reconciliation. Simultaneously, the Catholic Church too is being asked to reflect deeply on what it means to be catholic and how this is animated in particular and universal settings. To this end, ASREAP in collaboration with the Cairns Catholic Education Community, is inviting you to respond to the invitation from Pope Francis to Encounter through dialogue.
As leaders of Mission, Identity, Curriculum & Formation in Catholic Education:
- Gain insight into the importance of healing and reconciliation.
- Develop an understanding of First Nations Ways of Knowing, Being, Doing & Valuing.
- Explore Relationally Responsive Pedagogies and Perspectives.
- Learn from the wisdom of those currently leading cultural formation, retreats and making connections with ministry and liturgy.
- Network and engage in discussions around embedding new learnings and experiences into curriculum and classroom.
Conference Structure:
My Story: Identity from a Cultural Standpoint.
You are invited to explore First Nations Ways of Knowing, Being, Doing and Valuing through the lens of Relationally Responsive Pedagogies.
Our Story: Encounter through Place.
First Nations Elders share how they are inextricably linked to the land, seas, skies and waterways by working and walking with participants as they self-select an on-country experience.
You are then invited to consider how the First Nations ways of Knowing, Being, Doing and Valuing can form and inform your leadership, relationships, how you teach and how you pray.
The Story: Encounter through Dialogue.
You are invited to explore how dialogue is key to understanding ourselves, our
culture and our faith.
Keynote Speakers and Workshops will invite you to reflect on how you can foster dialogue in your relationships, classrooms and our world.
